Not A Pro - Episode 2

There is a moment when you try something new and realize you are not naturally good at it.

For some people, that is where the experience ends. The frustration takes over, embarrassment creeps in, and it becomes easier to walk away than to keep looking awkward.

Kelly Coghlin chose a different path.

Meet Kelly

Kelly Coghlin is a skateboarder who is still learning, still falling, and still showing up anyway.

She is not here to present perfection. She is here to experience the process. Some days that means landing something new. Other days it means spending most of the session on the ground, laughing it off, and trying again.

What matters to Kelly is not how clean it looks, but that she keeps going.

In Episode 2 of Wildwood’s Not A Pro series, Kelly steps onto her skateboard knowing that falling is always a possibility. Tricks do not always land. Progress does not always happen quickly. Some days, the pavement wins.

And that is completely okay.

It's Okay To Fall

Falling is part of skateboarding. Every missed attempt teaches something, and every time you get back on the board, you prove that falling is not failing.

Kelly’s story is not about perfection. It is about learning to stay in the process, even when it is uncomfortable. When falling becomes expected, it becomes less intimidating.

It's Okay To Suck

Most of us only celebrate being good at things. But being a beginner has its own freedom. No pressure, no expectations, just room to try.

Kelly embraces that space. She does not need to be the best at the skatepark. She just needs a board and the willingness to keep going. That is the heart of Not A Pro.

Progress Doesn't Have To Look Impressive

Progress is often invisible. It is not the clean landing. It is the attempts before it.

It looks like standing a little more confidently, trying something that scared you last week, or sticking with something long enough to feel it start to click.

Kelly reminds us that progress is personal. The only person you need to be better than is the one who almost did not try.

Do It Because You Love It

Not every passion needs to become a profession.

Kelly skates because she enjoys it. The challenge, the small wins, and even the messy sessions. Being “not a pro” does not make it less meaningful. It might make it more so.

When there is no trophy at the end, the experience itself becomes the reward.

Adventure Belongs To Everyone

Adventure is not about skill level. It is about willingness.

You do not have to be graceful or experienced. You just have to start.

Kelly’s story is a reminder that you can fall, laugh, and try again. You can be bad at something and still love it. You can measure success by experience, not outcome.

It is okay to fall.
It is okay to suck.
And it is not okay to let that stop you from starting.
